Oswald J. Smith was Canada’s most famous pastor and was the founder of the People Church (1928) in Toronto (now on TV as The Living Truth). He was considered by his peers to be the leading figure of Foreign Missions work in the 20th century, and the People’s Church was the single largest missionary church in the world for decades, supporting over 400 foreign missionaries.
Oswald himself was a missionary, but he was also a pastor of Canada’s largest church, an author, songwriter and world-wide evangelist. Over the course of eighty years in ministry work, he preached over 12,000 sermons in 80 countries, wrote 35 books (with translations into 128 languages), as well as 1,200 poems and 100 hymns. He was also mentor to Billy Graham who performed his funeral service in 1986 at the People’s Church.
His teachings are what lit the fire in the heart of the founder of Crossroad of Truth and should be read and listened to by anyone who truly desires to be used by God.
